Diary-style in warblogs:
Warblogs are the modern online version of good old-fashioned diaries. They are mainly used by anyone associated with the U.S. military to communicate with family, friends and persons, who are interested in the topic. The diary-style is a very informal, basically used to convey the subjective opinions of the bloggers. The diary-style consists of short entries which are grouped with the most current entry being the last one (in reversed chronological order).

Pop Cultural References used in warblogs:
A striking phenomenon in warblogs is the frequent usage of pop cultural references whether they are taken from literature, music and movies. They are frequently used to convey sarcasm, irony, humor and to bond with the younger audience who is familiar with the used quotes to establish a common ground.
